Far Cry 3 will get 60 FPS support on next-gen consoles
Ubisoft has officially confirmed the release of an update for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition that will add 60 frames per second support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until now, the version for modern consoles was only available via backward compatibility and was limited to the standard 30 frames per second (FPS), a long-standing complaint among some players.
The first hints of the update appeared on the publisher's social media in the form of a cryptic message with emojis referencing three titles and the number 60. It was later revealed that the improvement would affect not only Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, but also the standalone expansion Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic, as well as Far Cry Primal, which will also receive smoother graphics on current hardware.

Detailed technical changes to the patch have not yet been revealed, but it is expected that the primary, and likely only, feature will be a frame rate increase without any additional graphical enhancements. The update is scheduled for release on January 21, 2026, and will be available to all owners of the aforementioned versions of the games.
