Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will receive a simplified mode for casual players
Ahead of the January 22nd release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2, Square Enix announced the addition of a special difficulty mode, Streamlined Progression. This mode is designed to make gameplay as easy as possible—characters automatically gain maximum health and mana, their inventory is filled with useful items, and each hit deals 9999 damage to enemies.
The new mode will be available not only in the new platform editions but also in all existing versions of the game on PlayStation 5 and PC via an update scheduled for release shortly after the Xbox and Switch release. This decision reflects the growing trend of making games more accessible to a wider audience, including players who prefer to focus on story and exploration without the challenges of traditional RPG gameplay.

The original version of the remake was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 in 2020, followed by a port to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021 under the title Intergrade, along with additional content. The expansion of the platform list and the addition of casual options demonstrates Square Enix's strategy to maximize audience reach for the iconic franchise, especially in anticipation of the next installment in the trilogy. Streamlined Progression mode could become the standard for future JRPG releases from the studio, balancing classic difficulty with attracting new audiences.
