The PlayStation 3 emulator has reached a major milestone: 70% of the console's games are fully playable
The developers of the PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 announced significant technical progress: over 70% of the console's game library is now fully playable without critical errors, technical issues, or significant performance degradation. According to precise statistics, 70.94% of games demonstrate stable performance at all stages of play, a key indicator of emulation maturity. Another 26.19% of games remain conditionally playable but contain errors that prevent full completion, while only 2.84% of games fail to launch beyond the main menu, and 0.03% display only a black screen.

This progress is especially noticeable when compared to the state of emulation five years ago, when only 63% of games were considered fully playable. Despite the slow pace of development due to the exceptional complexity of the original console's architecture, the project is steadily moving toward full compatibility. User hardware remains a key factor: owners of powerful systems enjoy a significantly higher percentage of stable games, as the increased performance offsets optimization issues in some titles.
Reaching the 70% mark symbolizes the transition of PlayStation 3 emulation from experimental technology to practical use for the majority of users. This opens access to the vast library of seventh-generation console exclusives for modern platforms, ensuring their preservation for future generations of players. Continued work on compatibility is especially relevant in the context of the gradual phasing out of support for original hardware and digital stores.
