Ubisoft is preparing a Far Cry reboot with a focus on multiplayer – insiders are sounding the alarm
Despite a series of internal difficulties, the cancellation of several titles, and release delays, Ubisoft has no plans to abandon Far Cry. According to insiders, the publisher intends to radically restructure its strategy around the series, turning it into a major brand with billions in revenue and regular, almost annual, releases of new games.
Two projects are reportedly currently being developed in parallel. The first is a full-fledged seventh chapter of the franchise, tentatively titled Project Blackbird. The second is a standalone multiplayer spin-off, Project Maverick, focused on the Extraction Shooter format. It is this project that is causing the most concern within the company, as production remains unstable even after the reboot scheduled for early 2025.

The team has not yet approved the final gameplay concept for Project Maverick, and the creators admit the possibility of a significant change in direction depending on market trends. Far Cry 7, according to leaks, will take players to picturesque New England locations, enhance online elements, and receive long-term support after release.
