ARC Raiders and The Finals servers were hit by a DDoS attack

Embark Studios reported serious access issues to its online games. The servers of the action games ARC Raiders and The Finals were hit by a massive DDoS attack, causing players to experience service outages. The outages began early in the morning of January 28th and were still ongoing at the time of the developers' report, despite active efforts to stabilize the situation.

ARC Raiders users are complaining en masse of being unable to log in, experiencing frequent connection drops, and sudden crashes during matches. This is particularly detrimental to progress, as disconnections cause players to lose loot collected in raids. Similar difficulties have also affected The Finals players, who are also experiencing connection issues.

Emark confirmed that the response team has already implemented protective measures and made progress in countering the attacks, but has not yet been able to completely eliminate the threat. The situation is further complicated by the fact that just one day before the incident, ARC Raiders received a major update, Headwinds. The patch added content for experienced players, new missions, changes to the Buried City map, a mechanic for exchanging loot from defeated opponents, and a number of other features, resulting in increased workload and increased attention to the project.
