Rumor: Honor is preparing a new-format foldable smartphone with a wide screen

Information has surfaced online about possible changes to Honor's strategy in the foldable smartphone market. According to insiders, the company is reconsidering its device lineup and may abandon traditional form factors, embracing a fundamentally different approach. Some models, it is claimed, may be permanently discontinued as early as this year.

A source on Weibo reports that Honor allegedly has no plans to release the Magic V Flip 3. Instead, the brand intends to focus on developing a so-called wide foldable smartphone, which will occupy the price range of the Magic Vs series and effectively replace it in the lineup.

The key feature of the new format is expected to be a larger internal display with an aspect ratio of approximately 16:10 or even 4:3. When folded, these devices remain more compact than classic flip phones, and when unfolded, they offer significantly more usable space for work and multimedia. HUAWEI previously demonstrated a similar concept with the Pura X, and a similar approach is rumored to be under consideration for the first foldable iPhone.

Notably, the series has not been continued since the Magic Vs 3's release in 2024. Details about Honor's new device have not yet been revealed.
