Terraria is back on top thanks to a major update
Sometimes a single significant patch is enough to recapture the attention of players of an aging game. This is precisely what happened with Terraria, which regained its spotlight after the release of a new update.
On January 27, Re-Logic released patch 1.4.5, known as Bigger and Boulder. The update improved the visuals, made gameplay more user-friendly, and simplified the mechanics for newcomers. The update served as a kind of gift for the 15th anniversary of the cult indie survival game, significantly reviving interest in the game.

After the patch's release, user activity increased sharply. Within a week, Terraria was logged in at least 100,000 times daily. According to SteamDB statistics, 228,073 players logged in simultaneously on February 1. This is below the all-time high of May 2020, when the figure reached almost 490,000 users, but for a game of its age, the result is very impressive.
Terraria debuted on PC in May 2011 and immediately gained popularity among fans of sandbox adventure games. Over time, the game also gained a foothold on consoles, building a large and devoted audience that continues to return to the game years after its release.
