GTA Online support will continue until at least 2027

During a conference call with investors, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed plans to continue supporting GTA Online's multiplayer mode until at least 2027. This means that even after the release of Grand Theft Auto VI in November 2026, the existing online game will continue to receive updates and new content. Zelnick emphasized that the publisher has every economic justification for this decision—the game has demonstrated stable revenue growth, reaching 27% in the most recent quarter, and continues to generate significant profits.

The final decision on long-term support for GTA Online will be made by developer Rockstar Games, which is also working on a multiplayer component for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. According to court documents, the new game will support approximately the same number of players in a single session as GTA V. However, it is unclear how the new project's release will impact the content release rate for the old online mode—it is possible that the volume of updates will gradually decrease as the audience migrates.

Rockstar Games is expected to reveal a more detailed roadmap for GTA Online support as the release date of the sixth installment in the franchise approaches.
