Sony has patented a technology that allows game characters to create AI podcasts
Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to actively explore the potential of neural networks to develop the gaming ecosystem. A new patent, filed in the summer of 2024 and recently approved, describes a system for creating personalized podcasts for players using artificial intelligence.
According to the patent, the technology will generate news collections based on the interests of a specific user by analyzing their activity in the PlayStation ecosystem. Users will be able to choose between audio or video formats, and these shows will be hosted by characters from Sony video games. The AI will not only reproduce their recognizable voices but will also be able to adapt the content, for example, by making fun of the player based on their recent gaming experience and achievements.
This development is part of a series of Sony patents related to the integration of AI into the gaming industry. The company has previously presented technology for creating an "AI ghost"—a virtual assistant capable of playing sections or even entire games in the user's stead.
