Jason Momoa to star in Helldivers film adaptation

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions have officially announced the release date for the film based on the popular co-op shooter. The film will hit theaters on November 10, 2027. Jason Momoa, known for such blockbusters as Aquaman, Dune, and the Fast and Furious franchise, will play a key role in the project.

Justin Lin, who previously worked on several Fast and Furious films, will direct and produce the project. The screenplay was written by Gary Dauberman, the author of the adaptations of It, The Nun, and Until Dawn.

The first discussions about a film adaptation of the game Helldivers began in early 2025. The original project is set in a fantasy universe reminiscent of the cult film Starship Troopers. The story centers on squads of elite stormtroopers fighting alien threats, including giant insect-like creatures and robot armies.
