Gothic remake receives release date and official trailer

Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Alkimia Interactive have announced the release date for the long-awaited remake of the cult RPG Gothic. The title will launch on June 5th of this year on PC and next-generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Along with the date announcement, the creators unveiled a full-length release trailer, which immerses viewers in the harsh hierarchy of the Gothic world. The trailer emphasizes the key narrative element—the protagonist's journey, beginning from the very bottom, with a stint in a penal colony. The footage showcases updated versions of recognizable locations and iconic moments from the original, rendered with modern technology. Judging by the initial reactions of the gaming community, this new visual interpretation of the classic world has been extremely well received.

The developers also confirmed that the remake will not be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 hybrid console. The official reason for abandoning the port was the platform's insufficient performance to support the project.
