Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally stop being a PlayStation 3 exclusive after 18 years

Konami officially confirmed the release of the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 at its State of Play event. A key highlight was the inclusion of the legendary Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which remained unavailable on other platforms for eighteen years.

Along with the fourth installment, the collection will also include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Both titles were previously released exclusively on PlayStation consoles: the fourth installment exclusively for PS3, and the Big Boss spin-off for the PSP portable. An added bonus is Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, originally released for the Game Boy portable.

The port of Metal Gear Solid 4 will feature significant technical improvements: players will enjoy high-resolution support, increased frame rates, and fully customizable controls. The developers will retain online features for Peace Walker, including a co-op mode for two to four players and Versus Ops, which allows for battles with up to six players.

The collection is scheduled for release on August 27, 2026.
