A modder has shrunk Grand Theft Auto 5 to a whopping 2.5GB

A modding enthusiast named OptiJuegos has achieved a true optimization feat, reducing the size of Grand Theft Auto 5 from a typical 120 gigabytes to just 2.5. This effort removed over 98 percent of the game's original content. This radical reduction included virtually all core elements: story missions, audio tracks, most of the game map, and numerous other resources.

As a result, the massive project was reduced to the bare minimum required to run the game and support basic gameplay mechanics. Despite such extensive modifications, the resulting version, according to the author, is fully playable and even retains a certain level of playability. Of course, this isn't meant to be a full playthrough or a true exploration of the game's storyline—rather, it's a technical experiment demonstrating the capabilities of compression.
