Insider Ice Universe has revealed details about improvements to the selfie camera of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra flagship. According to the source, the South Korean giant plans to replace the sensor used in the current model with a more advanced Sony sensor, while maintaining the base resolution of 12 megapixels.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is currently equipped with a Samsung ISOCELL 3LU sensor, which will be replaced by a new component from a Japanese manufacturer. The main advantage of the upgrade will be a wider viewing angle of up to 85 degrees, allowing for more detail in the frame and making group selfies easier. Furthermore, the use of the new sensor will allow Samsung engineers to slightly reduce the size of the front-facing camera cutout on the display, improving the screen's visual appeal.

Other technical specifications will remain unchanged. The sensor size will remain the same: 1/3.2-inch, the pixel size will remain at 1.12 micrometers, and the aperture will remain the same: f/2.2. Thus, the update will affect the quality of the photosensitive element, and not its geometric parameters.
