Capcom unveiled a gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword at Capcom Spotlight
During the recent Capcom Spotlight presentation, the Japanese publisher revealed a fresh gameplay trailer for the long-awaited action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The title is being developed for PC and the current PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, but a precise release date has not been announced. The company has promised to release the project by the end of this year.
The new game is set in Edo-period Japan, where the capital city of Kyoto is shrouded in the ominous clouds of Malis. In this dark fantasy world, the protagonist must face the creatures of the underworld—the Genma demons. The story centers on a samurai who sets out in search of the mystical Oni Glove, an ancient artifact that grants its owner incredible power to fight hordes of monsters.

As the trailer and official description suggest, the developers are placing a primary emphasis on masterful swordsmanship and brutal, bloody battles. The hero pursues a personal goal, navigating a series of mysteries, intrigues, and deadly dangers lurking at every turn. Gameplay footage showcases dynamic battles in which the protagonist utilizes both traditional Japanese weapons and the power of an acquired artifact.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be the first full-fledged new game in the legendary series in many years.
